Space Maintainers
Protect growing teeth and prevent misalignment in kids.
Children who lose baby teeth early from injury or decay may need space maintainers. It’s ideal for guiding permanent teeth into proper position and avoiding future crowding or orthodontic issues.
We take an impression or scan and fit a small custom device to hold space open after a tooth is lost. It’s easy to clean, comfortable to wear, and helps prevent future orthodontic problems.
Space maintainer appointments take two visits. The first visit (30 minutes) includes impressions. The second visit (20–30 minutes) happens a week later when the appliance is placed. Follow-ups ensure it's working properly as your child’s teeth continue to grow.
Your child will need time to adjust to the space maintainer. Help them keep it clean, avoid sticky foods, and monitor for any irritation. We’ll check its fit regularly and ensure it stays effective until permanent teeth arrive.
Children may take a day or two to adjust. Avoid sticky foods and encourage gentle brushing. If your child reports soreness or discomfort, let us know—we’ll check the appliance and ensure it’s working properly.
